Build Season 2020 - Week 2

Updated: Feb 15, 2020

As we enter Week 2 of the 2020 Build Season, TKO is working through design reviews! Chassis finished manufacturing and jigging the chassis. Due to its modularity, it is ready for mechanisms to be mounted on it very shortly. Color Wheel completed the CAD assembly and are resolving issues with sensor placement (limit switches). They ordered materials and are beginning to manufacture parts. They have completed two design reviews. They are almost done with ordering materials and have prototyped rollers. Shooter ordered materials and have also finished a design review. Field Elements has completed most of the field elements, and now they are usable for testing. Electronics is awaiting dimensions for the electronics plate (e-plate) and is working on an e-plate CAD. They laid out general areas for components. Additionally, Electronics helped to test pneumatics and began the process of mounting the e-plate onto the robot. They have also disassembled last year's robot.

Programming completed an official requirements review. They fixed issues and had an informal follow-up review, and are now awaiting a final review to double-check changes. Code is ready to test once the mechanisms are complete. Public Relations is preparing a submission for this year's Chairman's Award, the most prestigious award at FIRST. The Chairman's Award recognizes the team that best represents a model for other teams and best embodies the mission of FIRST. Teams who have earned the Regional and District Championship Chairman's Award are eligible to travel to the FIRST Championship to be considered for the Chairman's Award. Outreach is starting to plan a foyer display for National Engineers Week in February. They also researched a variety of food options for dinners on Friday meetings. With many design reviews complete, we hope to start manufacturing our mechanisms by next week. Check back later for more news!
